| Following his appointment at the end of the 1997-1998 season, Boston-based conductor Robert Lehmann is in his sixth season as Music Director of the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra. He is Assistant Professor, Director of Orchestral Activities at the University of Southern Maine, School and Music and conducts the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra's Junior Repertory Orchestra. | ![]() |

Mr. Lehmann was born and raised in Mexico City where he attended the Conservatorio
Nacional de Musica. At sixteen, he became concertmaster of the National Youth
Orchestra and a year later joined the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional professionally.
Mr. Lehmann attended the University of the Pacific earning Bachelor of Music degrees in
Violin Performance and Music History, in addition to winning the University's concerto
competition and being named the Outstanding Graduating Senior of the Conservatory of
Music. He received his Master of Music degree in Performance and Literature from the
Eastman School of Music where he studied with Peter Salaff and members of the Cleveland
Quartet. While at Eastman, Mr. Lehmann participated in the Cleveland Quartet Seminar
and served as concertmaster of the Eastman Philharmonia, in summer residence at the
Schlossfestspiele in Heidelberg, Germany. Mr. Lehmann has served on the faculty of
Northeastern University, the Eastern US Music Camp and was a member of the Eos Chamber
Music Ensemble. Mr. Lehmann is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Boston University's School for the Arts where he studied with Dana Mazurkevich and David Hoose. He maintains a very active schedule as a conductor, performer, teacher and adjudicator. |
